FAQ
Can I do my own roof installation, or should I hire a roofing contractor?
The challenges of installing a new roof are numerous, including the danger of a workplace accident along with the skill and knowledge associated with installing a roof system. Manufactures generally will not issue a warranty if the product is not installed by a licensed professional.
How much does a new roof cost?
The price of a new roof depends on many factors, just like the price of a new car. Some roofs last for years, others last for decades. The type of material you select will affect the overall price, but so will the reputation of the roofing contractor. Do your research and select the roofing material and roofing contractor that best fits your specific needs and comfort zone.
Can snow damage my roof?
Yes it can. Especially if it is wet and heavy. Also, ice dams occur when snow melts near the ridgelines of warm attics and refreezes as it runs over the cooler overhangs. The best prevention to ice dams is a well-ventilated roof. Ice and Water Shield can be applied along these areas for extra protection.
MY ROOF IS LEAKING. DOES THIS MEAN I NEED A NEW ONE?
Not necessarily. You may only need repair work. Leaking can result because some flashing have come loose or because a section of the roof has been damaged. The best way to determine the problem is to call in a professional roofing company for an evaluation. We offer FREE roofing inspections, submit the form on this page to schedule your FREE inspection of your roof.
why is venting so important?
Good ventilation creates a cooler attic in the summer. An overheated attic, combined with moisture, can be damaging to roof sheathing and roof shingles, causing them to age and deteriorate prematurely. Good ventilation creates a drier attic in the winter and helps prevent ice dams. Good ventilation serves two main functions: Moves hot air next to the roof deck out of the attic in the summer & dilutes and removes the moist air in the winter before it can cause damage
unlicensed roofer?
If your roofer is unlicensed then that means that he doesn’t carry workers compensation insurance for his employees. If one of them gets injured on the job then it is YOU, the homeowner, that is responsible for the medical bills, etc. Mova Construction is licensed and carries workers compensation insurance for all of its employees
